Story

The Crest of Gaia retells the story of Elthlead's crusade against the demons, first told in the game Elthlead. It begins with the demons laying siege to Diehl, a remote border town in Elthlead's kingdom.

In this chapter of the story, Elthlead's crusades lead him and his armies across the land between his castle and Velzeria, as well as to some towns on the northern side of the Rall river. His armies advance and get driven back to counter other attacks across the game's thirty scenarios. Eventually Elthlead amasses his armies for a great march to Velzeria where he finally confronts Böser himself.

The final battle at Velzeria Castle is the first time Elthlead and Böser meet on the battlefield (in this series at least) and ends the threat of the demons by sealing them in Velzeria with the Holy Sword. The sword is entrusted to the Baldea line to defend for all time (or at least till Langrisser I...).
