Past Updates

2008.04.25

Changed the site template to something a little less crappy. Would anyone like to make a nicer header for the top?

The Der Langrisser translation has been updated with numerous script fixes and retranslations. You can get it from the new Langrisser Projects blog. Anyone working on Langrisser projects is welcome to an account to post news about their project.

This Web site is now powered by PmWiki. You are welcome to help fill in pages as they are created. Please follow the archive's StyleGuide when editing pages. Thank you.

On this day, Der Langrisser became English. No, I'm not joking. http://langrisser.cinnamonpirate.com/.

Our forums are now running on SimpleMachines. It seemed like too big a security risk to leave them on YaBB SE, especially since that software was killed a year ago and no longer receives security updates. The forums and the rest of the site now share the same CSS file, so everything should look a bit more

It was pointed out in the forums that NoProgrss released a fix for the old Hiryuu Honyaku? Langrisser II translation. It still lacks endings and epilogues and uses the same butt-ugly font, but it won't break in modern emulators anymore. You can download it from the Langrisser II page.

I finally dug up a correct version of the last No-Life Translations? patch for Der Langrisser. If you can't wait for the new one to be finished, you can play the light path only on this patch ... though the hacking work is utter shit.

We have a new Langrisser II ROM! My dumps of games purchased in China finally came back from Death Adder, and it turns out one of my carts is a new version of the Chinese Langrisser II. From what I played, it looks the same as the other, but the SEGA logo has been replaced with the logo for "WINSEN中文版," a software bootlegging group. Apparently when they got into running off carts, they slapped their name on Langrisser II.
I also spent some time today studying the other Langrisser II ROMs to discover Cowering's [T-Chinese][a1] ROM is not actually an alternate dump. Someone removed two bytes from the header at $0008 (normally it would be 0xAABB). If you restore these bytes, it turns out the ROM is an exact copy of the regular Taiwan cart. I think this means my new dump should be [a1], but since Cowering is mildly retarded and spends his days eating paint chips and running into walls instead of getting shit right, I'm calling it [a2] to be safe.
The Langrisser II page has been updated to reflect all these new ROMs, and the Chinese fan translation has been replaced by a .BIN image of the same ROM instead of .SMD (BIN compresses much better since it's not interleaved).

I added a few more of the old Langrisser patches. You can now find the old Hiryuu Honnyaku patch for Langrisser II and the No-Life and LangFand00d patches for Der Langrisser. None of these are really complete though since they're either missing text or are totally incoherent. I also put up a Chinese patch for Langrisser II that was brought to my attention. It's a new fan translation that actually finishes the game, unlike the old Taiwanese bootleg that only goes to Scenario 4.

Hey everyone, here's something new to play with: Langrisser IV Chinese (or if you like, Meng Huan Mo Ni Zhan). The patch is in NINJA format and will require you to have a Langrisser IV PSX Japanese disc and CDMage (one of these is free, the other isn't). Maybe this will help a few more people be able to enjoy the series.
Oh, and one other note, I found out the Langrisser II Megadrive Chinese translation ends at Scenario 4 when you reach Reitel. Bummer.

Been working all night. What's up? Pages have now been added for Elthlead, The Crest of Gaia, Langrisser, Langrisser II, Der Langrisser, Langrisser IV and Langrisser V. Pages are up for Guyframe and Langrisser III, but they lack a game overview. All ROMs and all FAQs are now linked from each game's page. I'll try to do a bit more before I go to sleep, but I have studying to do.

Three months later and I'm still not there. God, do I ever suck. Anyway, I'm doing my best to get the site finished. My goal is one new page of content every 2-3 days until everything is done. I know that's a rather overzealous goal since I accomplished zero pages in three months, but hey, we'll try!
The plan is to post a weekly update of all the new page that have made it up that week. Hopefully maybe that will help keep me focused enough to complete this. It's kind of funny since the site's original form was made entirely in one night while chatting.
If you are working on anything Langrisser related (fanfics/fanart/homebrew games/etc) please email me or post a message. I'd like to add information about people's projects to the site because with Langrisser now 4 years dead and buried, those fan projects are all that's keeping the community alive.

2003.06.12

After some host hopping and down time, it's time to launch the new version of this website. All content (except the old news updates) has been completely rewritten from the ground up. It took longer than expected but I think it was worth it. Please explore the new page and post what you think of it on the BBS.

2002.11.18

I just noticed it's been almost 6 months since there was an update here. That's pretty sad... A while ago No-Life/Moon Knight asked me about taking over this page to try to get it going again but I wasn't ready to give it up then. I think now that time has finally come.
Unfortunately, his motherboard blew up a while ago so it may be some time until he gets a new one. When he does, I'll probably have him take over. One thing I want to do before then is switch the boards over to the PHP version of YaBB, YaBBSE. The only reason I never did it before was because I didn't want everyone to lose their passwords (which will inevitably happen due to incompatibility with the password encryption formats).
When the board changes over, I'll put up the password converter so you can type in your old password and get the mangled string to enter on the new board so you can log in and change it back to something you'd prefer.

2002.06.14

ROMs are gone. They probably won't be back. It's really not a necessary section. With how rampant piracy has gotten on the internet a monkey can find any game they please on Google in under 10 minutes.

2002.06.11

Just felt I should provide some kind of information update to the page. Translation progress on Der Langrisser is marching onward. I've been working on the Langrisser IV table so CWX an finally dump that script. I really want to translate the script for that game so hopefully I can finish that table soon. Also fixed some broken links on the Info page so the Langrisser IV files are back up.

2002.02.19

Added the following ROMs: Ai Chou Aniki (PC-Engine CD), Chou Aniki: Otoko no Tamafuda (WSC), Gaia no Monshou (PC-88), Gai Flame (PC-88), Langrisser Hikari (PC-Engine CD).

The Langrisser BBS is back up. Go frolic. To a few users (No-Life, Azazel/matow/Fealart, Lester, Oogami, Walchuk, and Xeno) you accounts are already set up. I moved the user files over from the accounts you have on the JumpStation board. Just use the same password you use there. The database has been fully repaired color-wise, and all names have been updated excluding Langrisser III. CyberWarriorX sent me a list of the names being used in the translation of the game but I lost that email in a format. As soon as he sends it again I will update that section of the database.
